Lost Kitten

It was late and I just got home. I unlocked the gate and sneaked into the garage. One of our dogs ran up to me and welcomed me with its wagging tail.

It was dark and I heard a meow. Princess wasn't one to bark at people - in fact I rarely hear her bark. Sleepy as I was, I didn't think Princess would suddenly learn how to purr.

Despite my urgent need to pee, I followed the soft purrs into the garden - where the other dogs have begun to acknowledge the purrs and have started barking. The purring has to be coming from inside the garden! I can hear the faint meows growing louder as I stepped closer to the patio. Purr- Arf - Meow - Arf arf! Our dogs seemed to respond to each purr.

To my surprise, I found a small kitten locked up in what used to be a rabbit's cage. I peered into the cage, and stood amazed at the kitty - it stared back at me, immobile, purring and letting out soft meows.

I blinked and the kitty was still there. *insert vague memory about a stray kitten* The last time I tried to take care of a small kitten, I accidentally killed it.

Better to stay away than regret unfortunate events.
